Shahrukh Khan’s plans of making his RA.ONE as the sole release this Diwali have been foiled with Himesh Reshammiya confirming that he would be bringing his DAMADAMM on the same weekend as well. Though from screen count perspective it won’t make much difference to RA.ONE, the very fact that DAMADAMM has actually dared to step in as competition has ended up surprising quite a few.

“When it was earlier announced that Himesh Reshammiya’s fifth film as an actor, DAMADAMM, would be arriving on 27th October, many didn’t take that seriously since RA.ONE had already confirmed its plans for the same weekend. In fact Shahrukh had taken an early lead by showcasing the first look of the film way back during the World Cup cricket itself. Post that there were quite a few other teasers that were circulated by the makers of RA.ONE that ensured that it stayed in news,” observes a trade pundit.

However DAMADAMM hung on to its promotional plans till the right moment. Now that the film’s promos are being showcased full swing, it is pretty much an official announcement that Himesh has definite plans for DAMADAMM this Diwali.”

When asked about the clash of DAMADAMM with RA.ONE, Himesh said that there wasn’t much to read into it. He reasons, “RA.ONE is the biggest film of the year and I am sure it would be superb. However there is always a room for a good romantic comedy on Diwali. There couldn’t have been a better release date. I am very confident of its music becoming a huge hit just like it has been the case with the music of BODYGUARD.”

Well, as long as it benefits the industry, we look forward to that for sure.

While it is believed that both her films would be reasonably expensive affairs, Ameesha states that there is no hard and bound rule that she has set for herself for the future projects that she would undertake.

“These two films are being mounted on a huge scale because the subject demands that. However tomorrow if something interesting comes up that can be justified to be finished within 5-10 crores itself, I won’t mind that. Eventually I have to make sure that the subject is good and it is viable enough to be made in a certain kind of budget. I am educated enough to make such decisions while being practical,” Ameesha talks business here.

While at least one of the two films is expected to go on floors this year, both would feature Ameesha as the leading lady and would release before end of next year

A musical, SOUNDTRACK features her along with Rajeev, both of whom are playing two matured youngsters who are physically disabled. Due to such characterization, Soha gets emotional as she remembers how her dad too had fought quite a few battles as he challenged all adversities pertaining to physical handicap and still moved up in his career.

“My dad had lost one eye but still went on to overcome all obstacles and ended up captaining the Indian cricket team. Everyone said that it would be impossible for him to even face a single delivery but he managed due to his strong conviction,” Soha says with pride in her voice, “I took a cue from that and approached my character in a similar manner.

This young woman I play has a speech impediment but then her other senses are well in place to allow her to live her life happily. It is with this confidence that I motivate Rajeev’s character as well who is quite disillusioned after finding out that he wasn’t able to hear well.”

Detailing the film’s setting further, Soha says, “Audience would see Rajeev struggle with his disability while this girl continues to motivate him to live his life independently. Once Rajeev is inspired enough, he learns how to read lips and use that as a tool to communicate with others. On the other hand I would come across as someone free spirited enough to be this perfectly normal fun loving confident woman who is completely bohemian. She uses sign language and other expressions and gestures so that she is totally independent.”

His latest home production Breakaway aka Speedy Singhs is all set for release, but we don’t call him the Khiladi Kumar for nothing, Akshay Kumar will donate Rs 2 crore to the Ice Hockey Association Of India ( IHAOI) in an attempt to promote the sport in the country.

The decision of donating the amount to the IHAOI was made by Akshay and the makers of Speedy Singhs to encourage the sport within India. The IHAOI in New Delhi is the national body coordinating ice hockey in India under the supervision of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

Incidentally Speedy Singhs is also based on the sport of ice hockey. The film is slated to release on September 23.

Hrithik’s Busy Schedule May Lead To Early Shut Down Of Just Dance

Touted as one of the most expensive show on Indian television, Just Dance was launched amidst much fanfare and huge expectations.

The cost of each episode was said to be between Rs 3.5-4 crore. But, alas, the show has not been able to garner the kind of viewership as was expected.

The main attraction of the show dancing sensation Hrithik Roshan and its celebrity choreographers Farah Khan and Vaibhavi Merchant have surprisingly not been able to draw in the fans with their judging skills.

Unable to acquire enough ratings, Just Dance will wrap up by October, supposedly a good three weeks before schedule.

Of course, this could also be due to Hrithik’s busy schedule he is shooting for Agneepath and has not been able to give Just Dance enough of his time.

Interestingly, the channel has tried its level best to make the show popular. Celebrity judges like Katrina Kaif and Govinda were roped in to push the TRPs.

The next episode will see TV actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Neha Marda, Sayantani Ghosh, Mouni Roy and Shaleen Bhanot promoting the top six contestants.

Buzz is the show will be replaced by Survivor India, a reality show. Shot mostly in Phillipines, it will have 11 celebrities competing with an equal number of commoners.

The one who maintains his/her grit will be announced the ultimate survivor and win the finale.

The celebrities in the show include Aditya Redij, Payal Rohatgi, JD Majethia, Karan Patel, Karishma Tanna and Munisha Khatwani amongst others.

Star Plus spokesperson Parull Sharma rubbished the rumours. “This is completely false. The show is doing fine and is on schedule. I wonder who is spreading these stories, which I suspect is done with a wrong purpose.”

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan Sunday visited long-time friend and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

Singh, arrested in the cash-for-votes scam, is on interim bail till Sep 19. He was put under medical observation Sep 13 after he complained of ill health.

Bachchan, who is in Delhi to attend the Bharatiya Gyanpith Award, was accompanied by his Delhi-based daughter, Shweta Nanda.

“Amitabh Bachchan came to see Amar Singh in the private ward around 11 a.m.,” an AIIMS doctor said.

Amar Singh and two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora, were arrested Sep 6 for their alleged involvement in an attempt to bribe MPs ahead of the July 2008 parliament trust vote.

Bachchan’s visit follows Singh confidante and MP Jayaprada’s jibe saying: “The celebrities he helped, the famous people… Where are they?”

The actress was in the capital to flag off Cannon Photo Marathon aimed at bringing together photographic talents.

Mansoor was admitted to Sir Gangaram Hospital following interstitial lung disease, when the passage of oxygen to the two lungs is less than normal. As a result the patient breathes out more carbon dioxide.

His actor son Saif Ali Khan, also made his third Delhi trip Wednesday to meet his ailing father and was accompanied by girl friend Kareena Kapoor.

With the release of sci-fi films like ‘Ra.One’, superstar Shah Rukh Khan feels that Indian cinema would have its own superhero, pushing imported ‘Batmans’ and Harry Potters to the back seat.

“This film is one of its kinds and I am saying this from my 20 years of experience in Indian cinema. We all in the entertainment industry do look at it as something that will take Indian films forward not that I have made it and not because all of us are part of it. Its important that Indian films must go forward why get into things like from where it has been copied…and that its batman type and all,” Shah Rukh told reporters here last night.

“We all are going to have Indian superheroes and not only me there are going to be other actors who are going to make this genre possible. In the entire world its the only country in the world that has superhero films is America..why it should be so. We are the largest Indian film producing nation in the world why should we not have superhero…whether it is Drona, Krrish or my film…or ten more such films that will come,” he said.
Shah Rukh Khan is pushing imported ‘Batmans’ and ‘Harry Potters’ to the back seat.

‘Ra.One’, is a superhero film, has been directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced under the banner of Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.

“With this film we have taken the technology forward and we should be proud of it. Till how much time we will have Harry Potter type movies. I think we need to make Harry Potter, Batman and Superman here. I don’t know the fate of the film…how many people will like it. But this is genuinely this is a very special film,” Shah Rukh said.

The movie will see Shah Rukh playing ‘G.One’ and Arjun Rampal as ‘Ra.One’.

“All superhero films are same like there is a superhero, there is a super villain and then he dies. And this Dusshera you will see the mythological Raavan getting killed in 3D. I am sure you will like it. Yes the film looks like all the movies in this world. But yet I would say it is a unique film and I can assure you this,” Khan said.

This Diwali is turning out to be everyone’s favourite. What seemed like Shahrukh Khan’s playground is now seeing a mini invasion of sorts with many others joining the fray, latest being Govinda starrer LOOT.

‘After being stuck for a couple of years, LOOT is now finally nearing completion and has its plans set for Diwali arrival,’ informs a source, ‘Makers feel that this is the right time for their fun entertainer to arrive as it is festive season ahead.’

One hopes though that this decision has been well thought of since RA.ONE is expected to arrive huge. Moreover DAMADAMM as well as TELL ME O KKHUDA release on the same day too.

Says a filmmaker with a smile, “Guess it could well be termed as a ‘comeback Diwali’ for all. Himesh, Esha as well as Govinda would be looking at making a comeback with a hit. On the other hand Shahrukh too has a lot to prove by coming back on screen after a year and a half.”

Not all is lost for LOOT though. Silver lining is in the form of Mahakshay Chakravorty who would be seen again after this year’s surprise hit HAUNTED. Also Suneil Shetty, who is also the producer of the film and found some good appreciation coming his way for his comic act in THANK YOU may bring in some laughs.

“All of these are ifs and buts,” a trade guru comments, “You need to promote your film well to fetch any eyeballs. Rakhi Sawant was just roped in to do an item number for this very purpose.”

Let’s see if that helps the film make any ‘loot’ at theatres once this Rajneesh Thakur directed affair with Hansika Motwani and Shweta Bhardwaj as the leading ladies releases this Diwali on 26th October.

Juhi Chawla is probably regreting her outburst to a newspaper recently when she claimed that Shah Rukh Khan did ‘too little too late,’ referring to his acknowledgment of her brother Bobby Chawla, who has been in a state of coma in hospital for a long time, at the music launch of Ra.One. Chawla was the CEO of SRK’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment, and had helped the actor set it up.

At a recent event, the actress claimed the outburst was the result of emotions she has been carrying it for a while now. “The other day I was coming back from (photographer) Gautam Rajadhyaksha’s condolence meet when the media asked what I thought of him (Shah Rukh Khan). In that emotional state, I said why do we talk about a person when he is not around? How many times have we said how much person means to us when that person is around? The whole thing was blown out of proportion by the media. There’s nothing like ‘Juhi lashes out at SRK.’”

 Juhi added that she was happy that SRK recognised Bobby’s contribution to the production house, and the film. But she admitted that the acknowledgement came late in the day.

So have they spoken to each other after these reports came out? “Shah Rukh does not have time,” Juhi says. “He is a workacholic. He works 20 hours a day, so where is the time? I am also busy with the promotions of my TV show, Badmash Company.”

Starring Salman Khan in the lead, the film, to be filmed in 3D, was expected to release in Eid 2012. But the project has been put on hold for the time being.

Instead, Salman and Sohail are expected to start another film, a horror-comedy, which has the brothers all charged up.

It’s also nice to see that there is a whole other world out there and they are surviving and doing great and it’s not just the film industry world that exists.

One of your sisters is trying Isabella to get into the movies. Has she signed something?

No, she’s actually not here. There were a few misreports that she was looking and trying to get into the industry, which is not correct. She is currently in New York. She has been studying for the last two years. She has done her acting training but she’s not here yet. She is yet to decide.

I’m hoping she does and if here’s where she wants to work, then obviously now I think I have some very good friends and obviously, it would be easier for her.

While shooting for his forthcoming film ‘Bol Bachchan’ in Jaipur recently, Abhishek Bachchan said to have met with a minor mishap which left him injuries on head, hands and leg.

According to sources, the junior Bachchan was shooting a chase scene involving rickshaw. While performing the stunt Abhishek fell off the vehicle and hurt himself. Director Rohit Shetty immediately called off the shooting and took the actor to hospital where he was treated for his bruises and received nearly six stitches on the forehead, almost near the eye. After the treatment, Abhishek took a flight to go back home to Mumbai.

Sources added that it will take few days before the stitches are removed and after which Abhishek will join the ‘Bol Bachchan’ team for shooting.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, who was summoned by a Mumbai Court on Monday in connection with a rape case filed in 2004, has issued a statement clarifying his side on the matter.

The filmmaker has decided to take up the matter to the higher court. Bhandarkar has posted a link of his statement on the social networking site Twitter.

The statement says, “As the lower court has issued a process against me today, 19th September, 2011, for a case which has been going on for 7 years, I would like to state here after reading the judgment that we will challenge this order in higher courts and seek justice.”

Madhur Bhandarkar has issued a statement clarifying his side in the rape case.

A struggling model and actress Pretti Jain had accused Madhur Bhandarkar of raping her on the pretext of giving her a lead role in his fourthcomming films.

Bhandarkar has written about the background of the case without taking anyone’s name. He says, “Initially, on 12th July 2004 complainant had sent a legal notice to me stating if I don’t cast her in my film as the leading lady within 48 hours of the legal notice served then she would adopt necessary criminal and civil legal proceedings against me by lodging a police complaint and complaining before the Hon’ble Court of Law against me for cheating, cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully inducing a belief of lawful marriage and criminal intimidation. There was no whisper of rape charges in that notice.”

Further, the filmmaker has accused the complainants of being not trustworthy. The renowned director writes on his blog, “Then we came to know that on 9th July 2004 she had already sent a legal notice to one Mr Sohail Khan, an upcoming music director, stating that she is pregnant with his child, affirming that with a DNA test and she threatened him saying that if he doesn’t accept the paternity of the child then she would take legal action against him in 7 days.On 22nd July 2004, she filed a complaint with the police alleging me of raping her, for which I was granted bail in the session court which was upheld by the Hon’ble High Court. The Hon’ble High Court had passed strong strictures against her saying her credibility has to be checked, she was trying to falsely implicate me, which cannot be ruled out.”

Since he first showed up on India's screens, Salman Khan has always been in the news due to his alleged link-ups and frivolous fights. Having been through a low phase in his personal and professional life, Khan rose from the flops such as Yuvvraaj and Veer to action-packed hits such as Wanted, Dabangg and Ready. Now, as he treads on the path of success, Khan talks with an open heart and an open shirt.
"To tell you the truth, me being shirtless in O O Jaane Jaana happened by default. I was to wear a sexy shirt for the item number but the designer made an extra tight shirt in an effort to make me look sexier. And then ‘Wahi hota hai jo manzure Khuda hota hai!' (In the end, it is God's wish). That shirt was not fitting me, it was too tight and the buttons would not close. I removed the shirt, so that the alterations could be done. But Sohail said, ‘Bhai you look the sexiest without a shirt, so let's not waste time and burn our negatives… instead let's shoot you bare body' and since then producers and directors usually ask me to go shirtless," says Khan.
Khan's behaviour has also changed following his success and he has become more disciplined. From being irregular to his shoots, having erratic timings and different hairdos in the same film to a proper look and feel for all his films. Has everything changed post Wanted and Dabangg? "That is for you guys to decide. I have done my job and more than anything, my fans have liked the film. I exist because of my fans. As for the cash rolling in, I am very clear about it. Whatever extra perks I get from my work will be used for my charity organisation — Being Human," he says nonchalantly.
Khan has been linked to his ex's whenever they have come visiting and that is what happened with Somy Ali as well. But Salman being Salman, has his own take on the situation. "Even before anything happens between the two of us, the media is out with the news. Nothing materialises then," he says. So what about getting married? "Why do you guys want to see me married? I shall update you the moment I decide to get married," he replies with repartee and then quickly elaborates what he wants from a wife. "My ideal partner should possess all the qualities of my darling mother. Once that happens, I shall get married," he says.
On the movie front, after Wanted and Dabangg, Salman Khan is back with yet another action-packed film titled Bodyguard, slated for release over Eid, where he plays a bodyguard to Kareena Kapoor.

 Khan's real bodyguard, Shera, inaugurated the promotions of the film. Speaking about the man, he says, "Shera has been with me for a very long time, he has a tough time whenever he has to handle my fans but he has done his job with care. I can trust my bodyguard blindly, be it with money, family or my life. I trust them before alcohol and even after alcohol. They know all my secrets." As he plays the role onscreen, Khan says his real life bodyguard has taught him much. "I have learnt many things from real life incidents that my body guard Shera must have handled and have incorporated it in the movie." Shera has been with Khan for 15 years, before which he was a bodyguard for Karisma Kapoor.
Khan also had a different take on the term bodyguard. For him almost everyone plays the role of a bodyguard in some way or the other. "People have misunderstood the word ‘bodyguard', but the truth is that everybody is a bodyguard. Our mom who protects us every time and takes care of us is our bodyguard. The same goes for our dads, brothers and sisters who look after us and even our friends. The soldiers and cops are all bodyguards who keep us safe and protected. The word bodyguard has a larger meaning and I respect it," says Khan.
Barring these one-off aberrations, Khan has of late clammed up about his women. Earlier he did speak about Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif to the media, but nowadays queries on the subject of relationships, such as the rumoured affair with actress Somy Ali are usually met with stoic silence. "Earlier I was very open about my love life but then it was shown in a different light in the media. I believe that the media is responsible for making me a controversial man," he says.
Khan says his father Salim Khan helps him stay grounded. "My father is my biggest strength; he is my Veer (brave one). He always tells me to listen to my heart. One should not do anything wrong or harm others and success will be yours."
Looking ahead, he feels that he has everything he wants in his life and career. "I am Salman Khan. I have proved myself as a romantic and action hero. I have never lacked anything, even if I had to play a comic character. Having said that, I cannot claim to be the ultimate and the one to have introduced heroism with my films like Wanted, Dabangg, Ready, etc. For me, Amitabh Bachchan is the perfect hero and he has proved his worth with Zanjeer," he admits.
In addition, Salman Khan is in love with himself today, a sign of success and reason enough for him to stay the way he is. "I love everything about myself. I am happy with what I am." he asks.

Amitabh Bachhan is, in popular parlance, the king of Indian cinema, most certainly of the commerical Hindi film .
The older of the two sons of Harivansh Rai, an acclaimed Hindi poet, and the socialite Teji Bachhan, Amitabh went to Sherwood College, a boarding school in the hill-station town of Nainital, and from there to Delhi University where he earned an arts degree.



His first appearance was in the movie Saat Hindustani [Seven Indians], which did not do particularly well at the box office. Nonetheless, Amitabh was not deterred, and he can be said to have arrived in the Hindi film world with the films Zanjeer [Chains] and Deewar [Wall] . With his tall and lean looks, Amitabh became emblematic of the new kind of action hero. Whereas his predecessors played romantic roles, Amitabh introduced the motif of the 'angry young man' to Indian cinema.
